About CSCI

Tom Carbeck (1940 – 1992) was a strong advocate of education and research in the structural building components industry. In recognition of his efforts, the industry trade association, the Structural Building Components Association (SBCA) [formerly the Wood Truss Council of America], established a fund in Tom’s name in 2002. The Carbeck Structural Components Institute is a non-profit organization to undertake research and education projects focused on the structural framing of residential housing and commercial buildings.
