CSCI introduces a new four-color brochure that addresses the concepts the fire protection industry believes to be true about trusses and states the facts on the fire performance of trusses. [ORDER FIRE FACTS BROCHURE]

Trusses are strong, efficient, reliable, predictable, and, once you get to know them, pretty cool. For too long the fire service has vilified this structural engineering marvel. In this article you’ll get to know the truss—up close and personal. [READ ARTICLE]

FIRE FIRE PERFORMANCE OF TRUSSES EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM
In September of 2002, CSCI completed its first project: an educational program for the fire service, entitled the Fire Performance of Wood Trusses. Together with the Houston Fire Department and the Wood Truss Council of America (WTCA), CSCI created this research and educational training program with the goal of improving fire safety when it comes to structural building components, including trusses, as well as addressing the facts surrounding the performance of metal plate connected wood trusses when fire strikes.

CSCI has donated this educational program to the U.S. Fire Administration’s Education Department for broad distribution to fire departments across the country*. Now available on CD or VHS format! [VIEW PROGRAM OUTLINE] [ORDER FIRE PROGRAM]

BUILDING OFFICIALS AND ARCHITECTS: WTCA has also adapted this program into one of its online education workshops and you can EARN CEU's by taking this course online.

Please consider donating: With your generous contributions, the CSCI will have the opportunity to fund additional research and educational activities and programs to continue to fulfill its mission statement. Contributors will be prominently recognized.
